
Robert Kirkbride is director of the architectural design firm studio ‘patafisico and Associate Professor at Parsons The New School for Design, where he coordinates thesis year in the Product Design Department and is faculty-elected representative for facilities planning. His work encompasses architectural design, ecological land planning, furniture and installations and has been exhibited and published widely: Vogue, The New York Times, surface, Mark Magazine, Metropolis, and the film XX/XY. He has been Visiting Scholar at the Canadian Centre for Architecture and architect-in-residence at the Bogliasco Foundation in Genoa, Italy; he is also an editorial board member of the Italian-based Nexus Network Journal, and a Commissioning Editor for Alphabet City (MIT Press).
Kirkbride has been a guest professor at the University of Montréal and conducts design charrettes at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. His dissertation on architecture and memory (McGill University, History & Theory of Architecture) received the Gutenberg-e Prize from the American Historical Association and will be published by Columbia University Press.
