Alex F. Schwartz is Associate Professor at Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy and Chairman of the Department of Urban Policy Analysis and Management at The New School. He is also Senior Research Associate at the Community Development Research Center (CDRC). He holds a doctorate in Urban Planning and Policy Development from Rutgers University.

Personal Statement: 
I teach a combination of applied and topical courses at Milano the New School for Management and Urban Policy. These include experiential courses in which students work on management and policy problems for clients in the nonprofit and public sectors. Other courses include Housing policy and housing finance. Most of my research is in the field of housing and community development. I have published articles on community development corporations, community reinvestment, and New York City’s housing programs. In 2006 my book Housing Policy in the United States: An Introduction was published by Routledge.
